4×4 excursion through the White Desert of the Granada Geopark

What will we do?

The adventure begins at the Galera Iron Bridge, where we will meet at the appointed time. We will climb into a 4×4 vehicle and venture into the fascinating White Desert, a unique landscape within the Granada Geopark.

Our tour will follow the course of the Guardal River, allowing us to admire the beauty of its fertile plain. We will ascend to the heights, reaching Los Carriones, while discovering the local flora, such as the gamón, caper, esparto grass, and thyme. Despite its desert-like appearance, this place is home to a wealth of natural beauty.

We will explore locations from the film “Intemperie”, by Benito Zambrano, such as the Cueva de los Amos cave and the Cortijo de Ros, an area where caves and gorges intertwine. Keep your eyes peeled! This habitat is home to the majestic mountain goat and the elusive Iberian lynx.

We will stop at the Sismitas de Galera, unique rock formations created by ancient earthquakes. The last stop will be at the old gypsum mines of Castellón Alto, where we will learn about the site and the importance of this material in the region.

After four hours of exciting touring, we will return to the starting point, the Galera Iron Bridge, with the satisfaction of having explored an unforgettable landscape.
